Bool Tools can be used to modify two over-lapping objects in Blender.

Pre-req: Enable bool tool as add-on on preference

Two types of techniques I have learned while following along a tutorial by Polygon Runway

  1. Engraving

Suppose you want to have one object engraved to other.

Steps are as the following:

a) First select the object you want to engrave, then shift select the object we want to engrave it on.

b) ctrl + numpad / to use “brush slice”

c) Fix stack of modifiers if used Bevel on the objects. Once used brush slice, the btool modifier will appear in the modifier tool list. Move the newly made btool modifier on top of Bevel (for both objects)

d) parent two objects using ctrl + p

2. Paving

a) first select the object, use shift + d to duplicate the object

b) move the duplicated down so that it has an intersection with the object you are trying to pave it on.

c) use ctrl + numpad —

d) move the btool modifiers on top of bevel (if any)

e) parent
